iLove the iHome alarm clock radio

Pondered on Saturday March 31, 2007

Over a month ago, maybe two, Costco sent out a booklet of coupons. The coupon dates were staggered. The coupon I was most interested in would not be available to use until the third week in March. The coupon was for $20 off an iHome iH6 alarm clock radio. I cut out the coupon and stowed it away in the coupon organizer.

As soon as the coupon could be redeemed we went to Costco. Once the clock was set up at home I took immediate advantage of the nearly 20 gigs of audio I typically have to listen to with my Shure headphones. I was more than happy to ditch the late night tv rut in favor of relaxing to Zero 7’s Simple Things CD while spring air breezed through the open window. For the morning I set the alarm clock to trigger the iPod so I awoke to tips from iLifeZone. Its never too early for Mac tips.

The next step may be to insert an iTrip into the iPod to pipe the audio into the shower radio as demonstrated quite some time ago by Phil Torrone when he maintained his FlashEnabled blog. Back then I didn’t even understand what on earth he was doing with the an iPod, iTrip and a shower radio.

The sound is excellent on the iH6. The interface is easy to manage. I certainly won’t miss the old alarm clock that punished the user when setting the alarm time. If the target wake up time was missed the two button mashing had to continue through another 23 hour loop. Plus the iH6 looks good. Is there anything that matters more to an Apple fan?

What were they thinking?

It DOES look good but how does it sound? I think you should get one of them waterproof cases for your ipod so you can just WEAR it in the shower!

iLike it too, however can never seem to tell what time it is as it is always facing in the wrong direction, and the light is on dim...
HO HUM... guess I'd better learn how to operate the iThing... : )
